Bath stone looks fantastic in the autumn sunshine and with my elbow well on the way to recovery I couldn't resist picking up my DSLR again. For my first outing I probably should have chosen a small light lens but these were all taken with my 70-200 f/2.8 which is the heaviest lens in my bag...
Bath is great for unusual events, there is always something going on and last week it was the Pearl Izumi Tour Series finale. The tour pitches teams of elite riders against each other on challenging city centre routes throughout the UK and having seen other rounds on TV I was looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.
As anyone who has visited Bath in a car will know it is an awful city to drive around, the streets were designed for sedan chairs not tourist buses and commuters! Luckily I live in the middle of town with everything within easy walking distance.
Illuminate 2015 is a collaboration with Bath Spa University. Taking place over eight nights the event consists of seven contemporary art installations and projections which utilise some of the city's most iconic buildings as their canvas'. For more information on the project which runs from the 3rd to the 11th January, visit www.illuminate2015.org.
Night photography can be challenging, but with patience and a sturdy tripod it can be rewarding. I like to plan a route before setting out with a quest to take a number of pre planned shots, but quite often the best images are stumbled upon.
